Sunday, May 11, Gemini Ink's Dramatic Reader's Theater presents "
Bond of Sympathy: A Celebration of Family." The event is described as a hybrid of theatrical performance and literary reading exploring multiple perspectives on the concept of the family. The Dramatic Reader's Theater series presents eight productions per year, selected and compiled by
Nan Cuba and directed by
Maia Adamina. "Bond of Sympathy" includes stories and poems by
Dorothy Allison, Tom Lux, David Sedaris, Norma Elia Cantú, Walter McDonald, and
Rosemary Catacalos, and excerpts from
Steel Magnolias, Blood Wedding, Fences, and
Death of a Salesman. The performance is from
2 to 4 p.m. at Gemini Ink, located at 513 S. Presa. Admission is a suggested donation of
$5.
Houston-based microcinema the Aurora Picture Show has announced an open call for entries for its 6th-annual Extremely Short Shorts Festival.
