The San Antonio Museum of Art has a message for you: Stop touching the Ken Little sculpture in the new contemporary galleries.

And: You have less than two weeks left to see the Botero retrospective on joint display at SAMA and the Southwest School of Art & Craft. Through August 19. Samuseum.org for details.

Every year it’s like this: Contemporary Art Month ends, everyone sends out late press releases for their August First Friday shows, it’s hotter than a sonuvabitch, and then it’s Fotoseptiembre, the annual survey of the lens-generated arts organized by Michael Mehl. The full schedule of shows is available online at Fotoseptiembreusa.com as a web directory and a pdf, and Mehl’s web galleries are already on display. This year the nine virtual exhibitions include work by Mexico City-based Juan Garcia and Wimberley’s Roger Colombik.

You’ve noticed, no doubt, you artsy types, that the paper’s been redesigned. What that means for culturophiles is that Arts is no longer a catch-all. ¡Ask a Mexican! and Mex in Manhattan are up front in Cuco Peeps; End User is farther back in Tech. And fear not, this week we’re Q&A heavy, but we’ll get back to our critical ways August 15.
