This Thursday, February 19, the UTSA Downtown campus hosts a lecture and panel discussion moderated by Justin Boyd, who, in addition to making innovative artworks (often utilizing an unexpected sound component) and teaching as part of UTSA’s faculty (one which also boasts new media doyenne Leslie Raymond, of Potter-Belmar Labs), represents one full half of San Anto’s male representation at this year’s Texas Biennial (our other art dude representin’, curiously, is also named Justin — Justin Parr). The panel discussion will cover topics such as nontraditional venues for new media and performance, and the panelists include Michele Monseau, artist and director at Three Walls gallery, Chris Cogburn, director of the No Idea Festival, Dan Anderson of the Bearded Child Film Fest, and Jason Kahn, artist and director of the record label “cut.” The revolution will not be televised, but it is free. diy and the avant-garde, 7-9 p.m., Multipurpose Room FS 1.402.
