Pow! Nate Cassie! Katie Pell! Bettie Ward! Jesse Amado! Shazam! These are only some of the featured artists who donated works to the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center’s biggest annual fundraser, the Red Dot Sale. Chuck Ramirez! Riley Robinson! Cesar Martinez! C’mon! It happens this Thursday, and in addition to raising needed funds for all of Blue Star’s many excellent programs — exhibitions, lectures, free Family Days, and its fantastic slate of educational outreach and ArtSmart projects, such as the amazing MOSAIC afterschool program — 50 percent of monies earned go back to the artists (more than $50,000 in ’08). Emerging talents from the UTSA MFA prgram, such as Connie Swann, Erin Muñoz, and Casey Arguelles will show (and sell) alongside community heavy-hitters such as the above and Ken Little and Hills Snyder. Affordable, challenging, local contemporary art, for a good cause. Oh, and Red Dot happens to be a mega-fun fiesta, too. See y’all there. $75 per/$125 couple, 7-11pm, 116 Blue Star, (210) 227-6960,
