Edicta Pineda
In “Volver,” artist Edicta Pineda circles back to matters of the heart. Drawing from her upbringing in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Pineda fuses the archetypical imagery of the heart with the colors and textures of her early memories, Wayuu heritage and religious faith. Comprised of myriad materials, including plastic, yarn and bits of jewelry, Pineda’s work celebrates the domestic by bringing to the forefront objects that usually recede into the banality of the everyday.

The exhibition’s opening at Clamp Light will feature the artist in a performance that positions love as the lifeblood that connects her to her past, centered amongst the veins of vibrant objects stretched out around her.

Free, Fri Dec. 14, 7-10pm, on view by appointment through Jan. 6, Clamp Light Artist Studios & Gallery, 1704 Blanco Rd., (832) 259-3530, clamplightsa.com.
