Artpace’s ‘Remix’ Encourages Teens to Embrace Their Inner Artiste

Listen up, teenagers—take your earbuds out of your ears, and stop listening to Ariana Grande for, like, two seconds. Artpace is holding an event just for you, high school students, and it is going to be way better than going to see the newest dystopian YA novel-turned-film.

Remix: For High School Students Only,” which will be happening at 7 p.m. this Saturday, is an event that’s been organized by Artpace’s You[th] Pace Teen Art Council Members. The You[th] Pace members, who are selected via a competitive application process, have been trained in all things Artpace. They know the ins and outs of all the gallery’s exhibitions and artists-in-residence, making them all curators, artists, and docents in-training. In other words, these teens know their stuff, and they want to share their wealth of knowledge with you and have a good time doing it.

The event will include tours of Artpace exhibitions led by the art-savvy You[th] Pace members, as well as screen-printing, movie screenings, live music, and food by Bite Size Bistro. Remix will carry on until 10 p.m., so parents needn’t worry that their kids will be out all night. No, they will just be enjoying a nice evening of food and culture with their friends.

And maybe twerking. There’s always that risk, no matter what.
