Austin Baroque Orchestra & Chorus presents "Schütz & Giggles"

The greatest German composer before Bach was Heinrich Schütz. Though much of his music is lost, including his only opera, what survived shows a masterful composer who was able to deftly combine the passion of the Italian early baroque with German craftsmanship, bringing a new brilliance and emotional depth to his music. His contemporaries were just as enamored with the exciting new styles of music coming out of Italy, and they also Italianized their compositions. Music by Schütz, Praetorius, Schmelzer, and Buxtehude.
