Two days before the band releases it to the world, there’s a damn good chance San Antonio show-goers will get a heavy dose of Some Part of Something, the latest album from ATX bluegrass/hard-country outfit Whiskey Shivers.
Some Part, which follows up the group’s stellar, self-titled 2014 effort, promises to see the band maturing and refining its fiery sound, just as it has with each previous release. But, for Whiskey Shivers, maturing has nothing to do with taking the proverbial foot off the gas.
The punk fever that has always hallmarked the band’s would-be puro Americana sound is still there in huge helpings, as their songs lurch and lunge, wild and tempestuous, into the sacred territories of both ecstatic joy and unbridled darkness.
