Italian beer tasting

An Italian beer tasting with appetizers will be held Friday, May 28 from 6-8pm at Massimo Ristorante e Bar. Giullo, Gali, Dufour & Company, hosting the event, will introduce MENABREA, a new beer. $2 per person. Info: 342-8556,

Chisholm trail wineries

Chisolm Trail Wineries will hold their third birthday party Saturday, May 29 from noon-6pm. Featuring bagpipes from 12:30-2pm, Thomas Michael Reilly and John Greenberg playing country western from 2pm-5pm, appetizers, hayrides, and wine tastings. 2001 Estate bottled Belle Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and 2001 Estate bottled Merlot will be introduced. $1 per sample of wine Info: 830-990-CORK.

Rockport Wine festival

The Rockport Wine Festival will be held Saturday, May 29 from 2-10pm, and Sunday, May 30 from 2-8pm on the Texas Maritime Museum grounds at 1202 Navigation Circle on the Rockport Harbor. Attractions include wine-related seminars, cooking demonstrations, local food vendors, and four live bands. More than 60 wines will be featured and a free wine glass and three samplings are included with admission. Cost is $15 per day, or $20 for a 2-day pass. Info:

Return of the Chili Queens

Return of the Chili Queens will be held Saturday, May 29 through Monday, May 31 from noon-11pm at Market Square, 514 W. Commerce. This event is based on the historical "Chili Queens" that made and sold food downtown. Attractions include food booths, street dancing, working artists, and three stages featuring Tejano and Conjunto bands, mariachi, and folkloric dancing. Hosted by El Mercado Merchants Association. Annual Alkoran Shrine Picnic

The 58th Annual Alkoran Shrine Picnic will be held Monday, May 31 at Comanche Park #2. Attractions include barbecue, catfish, art vendors, beer, games and music. Hosted by the #99 Alkoran Shrine Temple. Free. Info: 222-1511 or •
