Once a brewery powerhouse, San Antonio lost the big companies, but now shows
talent brewing more refined beers. Famous amongst Texas beer aficionados for their seasonal offerings, and gaining rep and shelf-space at select bars for their small-batch whiskey, Ranger Creek makes a line of beers that we try again and again. Our current fave is their dark ale, La Bestia Aimable (sic), and OPA, an oatmeal pale ale. But when the summer heats up, we might capitulate to
Lucky ’Ol Sun, a golden ale inspired by the best of Belgium.
