One night after his Blaze Foley tribute concert at the Pigpen (7pm Wednesday at 106 Pershing Ave.), breakout actor Ben Dickey will be in attendance for a special free screening of Blaze, which was co-written and directed by Academy Award-nominated actor and screenwriter Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight, Boyhood). The film explores Foley’s career in the ’70s and ’80s, his relationship with girlfriend Sybil Rosen (Alia Shawkat) and his drug and alcohol addiction. In 1989, Foley was shot and killed by the son of one of his friends after an altercation. A Q&A with Dickey (moderated by Current contributor Kiko Martinez) will take place after the screening.
