Booze News: Hoppy events and details on Missions Untapped's grand opening

Tomorrow night The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (11255 Huebnerwill host a brewery night in honor of German brewery Bitburger at 7 p.m. Simply buy a pint of the brew and keep the glass. Bitburger is the official beer of the German Soccer Association.

Also on the board for tomorrow night, Big Hops Growler Station (11224 Huebner) is partnering with Karbach Brewing Co. to bring an arrangement of their beer selection to the Big Hops taps. With the purchase of any Karbach growler fill guests will receive a free limited edition growler that features the Hopadillo, the brewery's take on the Texas state mammal. Karbach representatives will also be present at the event as well.

On Saturday, June 28, Big Hops Growler Station (8313 Broadway) will feature a variety of Prairie Artisan Ales on its taps for the day. The brewery has had a big following since the release of its Prairie Noir collection. Expected brews for the day include Prairie's signature BOMB! Imperial Stout, Prairie Wine Nior Imperial Stout, Prairie Bible Belt Imperial Stout, Prairie Ale Farmhouse Saison and Prairie Birra Farmhouse Saison. The event is aptly titled Prairie Shutdown.  The Prairie Bible Belt Imperial Stout, which uses a blend of chilis, cacao nibs, coffee beans and vanilla beans, was brewed in collaboration with Evil Twin Brewing. Sound the alarm for all Prairie lovers to unite for this extravaganza.

Missions Untapped (8123 Broadway) will be celebrating its Grand Opening this Saturday, June 28 with live music, barbecue, and beer specials starting at 12 p.m. Guests are welcomed to bring their pooches to the event. The special brew for the day will be New Braunfels Brewing Co.'s Hot Child, a cucumber and jalapeno hefeweizen, on cask.

For those in the mood for a mini road trip, or as we like to call it a wine trip, Becker Vineyards (464 Becker Farms Road, Stonewall, Texas 78671) will be offering its grounds for guests to enjoy live music and quality eats this Saturday, June 28. The artist for the day is San Francisco native Brittany Shane. Patrons can feast on pizza from the Fredericksburg-based joint West End Pizza Co. For more information, call (830) 644-2681.
