Burger hounds and grilled goodness

There’s a new burger joint on the River Walk now — Charlie Wants a Burger at 223 Losoya. The restaurant is part of the Paesanos Restaurant Group, the folks who oversee all of the Paesanos restaurants, Rio Rio Cantina, and Zuni Grill. ‘Charlie’ is actually a Jack Russell terrier, which explains why the restaurant also sells dog treats and why a percentage of the shop sales go to the San Antonio Humane Society. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

After all the rain we’ve been getting lately, it’s been hard to really get into the summer season and grill. Change all that at the Boiler House on Sunday, June 9, noon-4 p.m. for the Summer WineFest, which features meaty goodness grilled on the Culinary Institute of America’s large outdoor pit. They’ll have a bar for most of your other desires as well: tacos, sangría, beers, and wines. Tickets are $50 for general admission, and $75 for VIP, which includes luxury wine pairings and specialty foods on the second floor.
