The Briscoe’s new Award-Winning West film series kicks off with a screening of George Roy Hill’s 1969 classic starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford as train robbers who escape to Bolivia with lawmen in pursuit. Nominated for seven Oscars and winning four (including one for Original Song with Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”), the film was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2003. The Writers Guild of America also ranked it No. 11 on their list of greatest screenplays ever written. Saddle up.
