Despite the low-key rivalry, a large number of Californians are moving to Texas, according to a study from the United States Census Bureau.

The state's number of renters is a historic low, with many residents packing up and moving elsewhere in the country. One popular destination for Californians, according to Redfin, is Texas, with most cities in the Lone Star State growing in population with the addition of these new residents.

It turns out San Antonio has become quite the hot spot – at least for Texans.

While other metropolitan areas such as Dallas, Houston and Austin have become home for migrants from the West Coast, longtime Texas citizens in these areas are moving to San Antonio.

Redfin found this data by looking at the website’s search history, documenting where potential movers searched from and where they looked into moving. They found that although San Antonio has caught the attention of movers from San Diego and Los Angeles, the highest amount of users interested in moving to the 2-1-0 hail from Austin and Houston. Now how about that.

San Antonio also has one of the lowest rates of people moving out of the city, as about only 16 percent of Redfin users in San Antonio searched for homes in other cities. Austin and Dallas have similarly low numbers of movers heading out, but much higher numbers of out-of-staters moving in, making San Antonio stand out as a uniquely Texan destination.
