Artist Matt Tumlinson shared progress of his mural on Instagram, first giving a sketch preview late last month. He told the San Antonio Express-News that the inspiration for the mural came from paying tribute to the Texas Revolution. He said he's a descendent of George Tumlinson, one of the men who came from Gonzales to help defeat Santa Ana.
Sketch for a new mural, just in time for Texas Independence Day! Coming soon to a wall near you!...(if you live in the greater San Antonio area) #texasmurals #sexydavycrockett #rememberthealamo #texasartist @sanantoniomag @sanantonio_300 @sanantoniolovelist @sacurrent @maxthewoodward @visitsanantonio
Tumlinson was sure to share a video of early stages of his work.
He shared the finished product last week, tying into International Women's Day.
Tumlinson also shared a picture of himself underneath the mural – which you can see is even more eye-catching with the vibrant colors.
The first mural and sunburn of 2018 is in the books! Thanks @juan_mission for the stellar pics, @maxthewoodward for the wall and beer breaks, and all the women who’ve unknowingly helped me get that “I’m gonna kill you! face” juuust right. #dontmesswithtexaswomen #davidacrockett #laststandatthealamo #sanantonio #sanantoniomurals #texasmurals #tumlinsonart @ksatnews @montanacans_usa @powwowworldwide @visitsanantonio
