About three months after an October 2017 fire sent the original Chris Madrid's from their brick and mortar into a food truck, Diana Madrid was applying for a permit from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Fast forward another 11 months, and here we are. Diana's Burgers opened their doors last week, according to an Express-News report.

Madrid is the sister of the late San Antonio burger kingpin, whose cheese-laden patties fed customers north of downtown for 40 years. Richard Peacock, of fellow San Antonio stalwart Paloma Blanca, bought Chris Madrid's in 2017 just before the fire.

The latest update from Chris Madrid's estimates a late spring re-opening date.

Meanwhile, Diana's Burgers is located on Zarzamora near Woodlawn Lake and is for now open for lunch every day but Sunday. Specific hours are a bit fuzzy, but it looks like 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is a decent baseline.

The restaurant may not have "Madrid" in its name, but Diana has Madrid genes. You can expect that there will be ample cheese.
