Christine Granados was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She has worked as a journalist for the El Paso Times and the Austin American-Statesman. Currently she is a reporter at the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post. Her newest novel, Fight Like a Man, tells the story of an atypical housewife and mother Moníca Montoya cheats on her husband despite her deeply held desire not to be like her own adulterous father. Moníca discovers she is pregnant and believes the father to be her lover, a small-time neighborhood drug dealer. As she wrestles with the decision of whether or not to keep the baby, she must deal with problems that arise with her son at school, her husband at work, and her Mexican-born half-sister. An unflinching portrayal of characters struggling to come to terms with their lives and the often dysfunctional relationships they find themselves in, these stories illuminate how people are both victims and aggressors of their own fates.
