Clothes-Minded

Pumps are the shoes to pair with this fall’s feminine, tailored look. Take the retro feel even further and fill your closet with open- or “peep-” toe versions to maximize trends. Anything you may not be brave enough to try in a larger piece like a coat or skirt will set off the rest of your outfit in a shoe. Try your peep toes in the season’s biggest shade – gray. Marc Fisher’s “Arve” in slick gray patent leather combines a t-strap at the ankle and basketweave upper: design details straight out of the 1940s.  Alfani’s “Lars” in metallic silver is a sweet slingback for dressy evenings that will still be wearable in spring. But for a classic look plucked from the height of glamour, choose a pair in suede and a sexy d’Orsay heel (where the side of the shoe is cut away, revealing the arch of the foot).

Rather than go online for these fall finds, stop by Macy’s on October 13 and give to a good cause. The San Antonio AIDS Foundation is selling $5 tickets entitling you 20 percent off anything in Macy’s all day – even sale merchandise. Pick up your ticket at 818 East Grayson between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
