Between classes, club meetings, studying, and, well, partying, there’s not much time to rake in the dough once the semester kicks into gear. But, while your cash supplies may be low, your student status can earn you some discounts in surprising places. To make it easy for you, we’ve put together a list of some of the choicest discounts that you can take advantage of in town, whether it be food, clothing, or tickets to local entertainment.  All you have to do is keep your university ID at the ready in order to nab some pretty sweet deals!

Caffeination
There’s a reason we’ve dropped this up top — every Monday morning on campus looks like B-roll from The Walking Dead. Fortunately, some local joints have got you covered for when you need that coveted energy boost. Commonwealth Coffee (118 Davis Ct.), Rosella Coffee (203 E. Jones Ave., Suite 101), and the Mila Coffee truck (parks at 2202 Broadway) all offer 10 percent off when you flash your ID at the register.

Grub It Up
Feeling a bit peckish, but sick to death of the cafeteria? Taco Cabanas across town offer 20 percent off your order, and many locations are open 24 hours — perfect for those late-night munchie attacks.

Shop Till You Drop
Craving some retail therapy? For new duds, hit up Banana Republic, J. Crew and  Madewell for 15 percent off and Urban Outfitters for 10 percent off. If your dorm room is looking drab, West Elm offers a 15 percent student discount as well. Crafty students can enjoy 10 percent off at Joann’s by signing up for a discount card — keep up with your hobbies without breaking the bank.

Sick of Netflix?
When you can’t wait to see the latest Marvel/DC installment or your streaming queue just isn’t cutting it, you can grab discounted tickets from most of the movie theaters around town. Thursdays is student night at AMC theaters (tickets discounted to $12.69) and Regal Cinemas offers student tickets Monday through Thursday after 6 p.m. (tickets discounted to $9.30). If you want to go all out, the Alamo Drafthouse has student pricing every day after 6 p.m. ($8.93 for a 2D showing), and you can nosh on a Royale with cheese while you enjoy the flick!

Local Flair
However, if you’ve run out of patience for the endless stream of ’80s reboots, discounts abound for cultured fare of the homegrown variety. Local theater companies offer discounted tickets for students, including The Playhouse San Antonio ($14-$27, 800 W. Ashby Pl.), The Overtime Theater ($10, 5409 Bandera Road, Suite 205), and The Classic Theatre ($17, 1924 Fredericksburg Road). Local museums and galleries also have student pricing — the San Antonio Museum of Art ($8, 200 W. Jones Ave.), the Briscoe Western Art Museum ($8, 210 W. Market St.), and Blue Star Contemporary (free, 116 Blue Star) are all great options. For a literal breath of fresh air, take advantage of discounted admission to the San Antonio Botanical Garden ($10, 555 Funston Pl.) as well as the McNay Museum ($5, 6000 N. New Braunfels Ave.), which has modern art spread throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces of its manicured complex.

Spurs Nation
For many of us, life in San Anto isn’t complete without a periodic pilgrimage to the AT&T Center. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the cult of Los Spurs, there’s nothing like going to see our hometown heroes in the flesh. Follow @SpursU on Twitter or like their Facebook page for updates and you can score tickets for as cheap as $10!

Stream All the Things!
Online streaming has changed the TV game, but as the growing list of providers locks down exclusive content, you can kiss your paycheck goodbye if you want access to all your favorite shows. For avid movie streamers, Amazon Prime offers a pretty sweet student membership — the first six months are free, and after that the membership is 50 percent off! In addition to access to Amazon’s extensive streaming library, Prime gets you free two-day shipping on tons of items, so you can make last-minute textbook purchases (or rentals!) worry-free. Music-lovers can rejoice, too, because Spotify gives students 50 percent off of its premium subscription as well, so you can load up on albums from all the new bands you hear at ACL.

Check for Freebies
College admins may seem stuffy, but they definitely get that y’all are pinching your pennies. Behind the scenes, every university has worked out some deals and freebies for the benefit of the student body. Check your college’s website to see if there’s anything you could use, be it university-wide memberships to local museums and attractions, free newspaper subscriptions, or even access to software like Microsoft Office and the Adobe Suite.
