Comedian Bob Khosravi's awesome pajama party

A long time ago, a musician friend told me he didn’t care if he reached national fame and success. He felt he could easily make a comfortable living touring Texas like it was its own country and would be satisfied with just that.

When I take into account that it takes longer to get to El Paso from Houston than from L.A., I begin to comprehend just how possible this is.

Comedian Bob Khosravi is doing just that, floating from city to Lone Star city in search of stage time and a willing audience.

Now I can’t attest to how well he’s doing on the comfort side of things, but there are many weeks you may find him couch surfing in Dallas or San Antonio.

It’s a hard life, but in just a few years of performing Khosravi has managed to earn a few paychecks and a lot of laughs. His easy-going demeanor belies a biting wit as he eases you into a funny and smartly crafted bit (rhyme scheme unintentional). He also bears an alarming resemblance to Gerard Butler’s Spartan character from the movie 300 (only instead of stacking the corpses of the dead to form a blockade, he opts to tell astute observations and reveal awkward moments from past relationships).

Catch Khosravi performing this week at the Rivercenter Comedy Club along with headliner Dan Gabriel, whose list of credits include Comedy Central, Star Search, Showtime, and BBC America. Who knows, at the very least you may have the funniest guy ever sleep over on your couch.
