The McNay Art Museum is hosting a series of interactive community events that attempt to encourage social consciousness, strength and transparency.

During this month's installment of the Mash-Up: Community in Conversation on June 22, President of DreamWeek Shokare Nakpodia and stand-up comedian and author Sarah Fisch will discuss their expertise in their professional fields and invite the audience to find connections.

Nakpodia is the founder DreamWeek — a summit that encourages people to come together and talk about tolerance, equality and diversity. Fisch has a diverse writing background best known for her children's books and her coverage of arts and culture in Texas. The connections between the two speakers will center around this month's theme of social consciousness.

The Mash-Up conversation will correspond with one of McNay's art exhibitions, and there will be a performance that relates to this month's theme.
Audience members will have a chance to win prizes for their involvement. Show up to the event a few minutes early for a wine reception that begins at 6 p.m. The community conversation starts at 6:30 p.m.
