Guest-curated by Alana Coates, Clamp Light’s Contemporary Art Month offering “Thread” is “centered on artists using needle and thread in contemporary techniques, narratives and conceptual practices.”

By highlighting this medium, the group show strikes a balance between traditional artistic practices and contemporary art, as well as between the realms of art and craft, which are often seen as distinct from one another. “Thread” features work from Bianca Alvarez, Linda Arredondo, Sara Barnes, Sarah Castillo, Martha Elena Flores, Sarah Fox, Abby Hinojosa, Sol Kesseler, Justin Korver, Michael Martinez, Nicole Tovar and Jose Villalobos.

Following the opening reception, which includes a performance by Villalobos, “Thread” remains on view by appointment through the end of the month and culminates with a contemporary embroidery workshop led by Fox on March 31.

Free, Fri March 9, 7-10pm, Clamp Light Artist Studios & Gallery, 1704 Blanco Road, Suite 104, (401) 580-6852, clamplightsa.com.
