Critical Darling

Last Wednesday, a band of armed thieves broke into Francis Ford Coppola’s office in Buenos Aires and stole a laptop containing the script for his next film, Tetro. Question of the week, my ethicist readers: Is it twisted that I’m glad he was robbed … because it’s a sweet plot for a movie? (Ocean’s 14: Doin’-it-up-ol’-South-America-way.)

Gotta love New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis for using up about 10 percent of her Lust, Caution review to stick it to the MPAA. “The horrors of female nudity (unshaven armpits!) and the vigorous pantomime of coitus apparently offended the sensibilities of the M.P.A.A., which routinely bestows R ratings to movies in which characters are tortured to death for kicks.” Ms. Dargis, will you marry me?

In case you missed their brief appearance at
Aintitcool.com, major spoilers about the totally uncalled-for Indy sequel are still floating around thanks to a blabby extra who spilled to an Oklahoma newspaper. Now you don’t have to Google “Tyler Nelson” “spoilers,” unless you want to forego the technicality of actually seeing the film. I for one will not blow 10 bucks to discover which of Jones’s lovers produced Shia LeBeouf. XO.
