Critical Darling is willing to overlook her personal, perchance-a-smidge-exaggerated loathing of Robert Rodriguez just this once, as recent evidence suggests he may know a thing or two after all. (Though not necessarily about gracefully parting with his wife, Troublemaker producer Elizabeth Avellan, the mother of his FIVE children. Via The New York Times, since Desperado, “`Avellan` has received top production billing on all `Rodriguez’s` films. In a telephone interview, Mr. Rodriguez pointed out that he had helped produce Troublemaker’s projects as well. ‘But the stuff she’s doing now on her own, she’s doing the full-fledged producer job.’” Humble, R-Rod.)

But as I was saying, the Sin City director may possess an ounce of wisdom yet. He awarded SA’s own Comedia A Go-Go grand prize at Fantastic Fest’s 48-hour horror film competition for their movie, LARP, wherein a band of live-action role players (Google. Right. Now.) are picked off by a crazo in the wilderness. Having laughed an ass off whilst conducting an interview with the sketch comedy group, Critical Darling has no doubt their film is completely flippin’ awesome.

As for Rodriguez, well, we hear his sister’s pretty good (see page 40). XO.
