Thursday, Aug. 8: The mother of all PBS cooking shows would have turned 101 this Aug. 15; celebrate classic French cuisine a la Julia with the staff at Sur La Table. Five percent of the proceeds will go to Wholesome Wave, a national nonprofit that provides community access to fresh, local produce. Thursday, Aug. 8: Open the Taps celebrates its second birthday at Big Hops Growler Station. Chat with local brewery representatives about upcoming changes and work that’s left to be done with brew laws. Free, 6pm, 8313 Broadway, (210) 320-1995.

Thursday, Aug. 8: McNay Second Thursdays continue with art, drinks, music by Ken Little and Rodeo Ho Ho, and food on sale from KHill BBQ. Free, 6-9pm, 6000 N New Braunfels, (210) 824-5368.

Friday, Aug. 9: La Fogata continues it’s monthly tequila tasting feature with Patron’s Blanco, Reposado and Anejo tequilas. Try it in the restaurant’s blood orange margaritas, or straight-up if you’re feeling bold. Free, 7-8:30pm, 2427 Vance Jackson Road, (210) 342-5377.

Saturday, Aug. 10: Support local farms! And eat a lot of food. On Saturday, August 10, Peeler Farms and the Chef Cooperative is serving an eight-course meal at the Emily Morgan Hotel to support local food suppliers. Tuesday, Aug. 13: It’s Hatch Chile season! Cookbook author, Elise Pierce, will show you how to create Hatch-filled recipes with a French twist at the Central Market Cooking School. Copies of “Cowgirl Chef: Texas Cooking with a French Accent” will be available for sale. Menu includes Hatch Chile cheese puffs, Southwestern gazpacho, roasted corn and Hatch galettes with avocado salsa and fig and green chile tartlettes with buttermilk ice cream. $60, 6:30-9pm, 4821 Broadway, (210) 368-8617.
