The folks behind the film Message to the People: A Story of Malcolm X are calling San Antonians to be a part of their current project, “a new documentary film celebrating the contributions black people have made to the fabric of San Antonio.” At the Carver Branch Library, which will act as sort of a home base for this project while it’s ongoing, these documentarians are calling for “historical photos, video, audio recordings, or memorabilia that is significant to African American/black history” in SA. Additionally, the group is looking for volunteers to help with the gathering and compiling of artifacts and research that this important work requires. Whether you have something cool that your elders left lying around, you’re interested in helping with research, or you’re simply curious, Saturday is your chance to get involved in the essential work of documenting Black History in SA.
