The free Latin-focused music and food series will return to Pearl this year May 30, Memorial Day, from noon to 6 p.m. The first event in this year's series, Échale Latino Music Estyles, will showcase an all-Latina lineup that includes San Antonio decet Mariachi Las Alteñas, Latin Grammy nominees Mariachi Flor De Toloache, Girl in a Coma frontwoman and solo artist Nina Diaz and DJ sets from the all-vinyl, all-female Chicana collective Chulita Vinyl Club. Also featured will be a curated beer bar, food from Pearl chefs of soon-to-open Botika, Nao Latin Gastro Bar, Southerleigh and The Granary 'Cue & Brew, as well as artisan vendors including Very That, Las Ofrendas, Pedazos de Maria, BarbacoApparel, Sweet Craft Jewelry, artist Cruz Ortiz’s Snake Hawk Press and more.

Elizabeth Fauerso, Chief Marketing Officer at Pearl, had this to say about the 2016 roster: “This year’s Échale lineup is a celebration of creative Latinas from South Texas and across the U.S. ... Between acts like Nina Diaz and Chulita Vinyl Club, as well as the incredible restaurants and vendors participating, this year's block party will prove the be the best one yet.” [sic]

Expanding the variety and sources for the visiting vendors, Échale and Pearl will also host Corpus Christi's Made in Corpus, a vending truck collaboration between Corpus artist El Dusty and Produce Goods.

This year's block parties will take place in the parking lot under Highway 281, north of Pearl Parkway. The next Échale fiesta is scheduled for Labor Day, September 5, also from noon to 6 p.m. The lineup and further details will be announced at a later date.
