On Thursday, park rangers at Enchanted Rock tweeted that surface temperatures at the state park were reading at 133 degrees.
Weather reports from local news stations said Friday that this weekend will be even hotter. The heat index is expected to be between 105 and 110 degrees.

Park rangers also advised potential visitors to take every precaution necessary to avoid heat-related illnesses. They've had an increasing number of heat rescues, mostly from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
The forecast is showing about two straight weeks of 100+ degree weather in the hill country. This means Enchanted Rock will be extremely dangerous any time other than first thing in the morning, or late in the evening. If you're set on visiting Enchanted Rock in the coming weeks, park rangers suggest stopping by in the early morning or late at night when the heat isn't as bad.
