  • Steve Kerr has led the Golden State Warriors to their first NBA Championship victory.

Former Spurs player and current Head Coach of the Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr has led his team to their first NBA Finals victory in 40 years. The Game 6, 105 - 97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers makes Kerr a six-time NBA Champion, five as a player, including two with the San Antonio Spurs in 1999 and 2003, and one as a rookie head coach for the Oakland-based NBA team.

Now we know. Even though the San Antonio Spurs were knocked out in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the Spurs — hey, once a Spur, always a Spur, right? — can still deny LeBron James a Championship ring. Here's an article from Deadspin that examines how Steve Kerr takes inspiration from last year's NBA Coach of the Year, Gregg Popovich

Sorry, LeBron. Maybe next year. But look on the bright side. At least the entire world knows you hang to the right

Congratulations, Kerr, on the Championship win.

In other NBA news, today marks the 39th anniversary of the San Antonio Spurs as an NBA team.
