Hermann Sons Rathskeller Bar
This could be the most throwback bar-going experience yet. Recently reopened
Hermann Sons Rathskeller Bar (525 S. St. Mary's St., 512-660-1706) will celebrate First Friday, June 3 starting at 7 p.m. Enjoy some $2.75 Alamo Beer along with other craft and local brews, take in some of San Antonio's art culture, dine on some delicious food provided by food trucks
Palm Frites,
Big Guido's Italian and
Oohwee Wings; and most importantly stay sheltered from the rain.
The bar has been in business since 1937. The Rathskeller Bar takes pride in having the oldest beer license in San Antonio and second oldest in Texas. It is known for its low beer prices and its simple low key aesthetics. The Herman Sons building has been closed the last few years, but since mid-April Rathskeller Bar became the first part of the building to be reopened to the public, according to one of the managers.
This event is free and open to the public. The bar opens at 4:30 and the event starts at 7 p.m. Palm Frites will serve food from noon to closing. Both Big Guido's Italian and Oohwee Wings will start serving at 7 through closing time.
