This New Year's Eve, say goodbye to Dick Clark and hello to duck confit. If you haven't made plans yet, here are several places to eat and drink your way into 2006 ...

Chef Louis Halfant of Eclipse Café, 14439 NW Military Hwy, will peel and grate more than 1,000 pounds of potatoes for latkes, a traditional Jewish dish of a fried potato pancake made with matzo meal. The Chanukah delicacy will be offered as a Black Board special December 26-31. Lunch is offered Monday-Saturday 11a.m.-2 p.m., with dinner Monday-Thursday 5-9 p.m., Friday & Saturday 5-10 p.m.

Citrus in Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, 105 E. Houston, will feature the dishes of Chef Jeffrey Balfour, who has chosen a fresh arugula salad with micro mache, duck confit and poached quail egg; pan-seared onaga, olive-oil-pomme puree and shrimp Salsa; and an indulgent chocolate mousse with lavender anglaise. Grammy-nominated Joe Posada Band performs from 6-8 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. in the sleek V bar. A five-course meal for $75 is offered at 6 p.m., and a 9 p.m. seven-course meal including champagne is $95. For more info or reservations, call 230-8412.

Bistro Vatel, 218 E. Olmos, also provides an elegant menu with lobster feuillate, bouillabaisse, pheasant with plums, cognac and passion fruit gateau among other delights. Cost is $75; for more info or reservations call 828-3141.

You have two dining choices at L'Etoile, 6106 Broadway. An early-bird dinner is available between 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $49.95. Specialties include lobster bisque, vegetable goat cheese terrine, Osetra caviar, and navarin of lobster flambéed in cognac with lobster nage served on a bed of baby vegetables. Biga on the Banks, 203 S. St. Mary's, is offering an Angus ribeye or a slow-braised lamb shank with goat-cheese ravioli as main entrées. Between 5:30-7:30 p.m. a three-course meal is available for $55, and from 8-11 p.m. a four-course meal including a champagne toast is $90. For info call 225-0722.

If you want some funk in your evening, make your way to the Blue Bubble Ball Room, 9315 Broadway, where you can get down with Confunkshun. $70 presale for dinner and champagne, or $90 at the door. For info call 381-6230.

The Lodge, 1746 Lockhill Selma, is offering an elaborate seven-course meal for $110, or $160 with wine. The fare includes Champagne risotto with white truffle oil, chives, and Parmesan frito; braised rabbit ragu with pappardelle pasta, natural jus-and-Parmesan reggiano; coriander-crusted salmon with Mexican chorizo, cilantro, and oven-roasted tomato ragout. To seal the evening, say yes to the Nutella-and-dark chocolate souffle cake with blackberry coulis.
