San Antonio College's annual Fredstock returns on Saturday, May 2, offering a live music celebration and a real time exercise for SAC music business students. The annual one-day festival is the exclusive result of SAC student planning, from booking and production to legal and talent management. Named after the late SAC professor Fred Weiss, all funds raised go back to the school's music business program.

Fredstock is named for Fred Weiss, who headed the Music Business Program at San Antonio College (SAC). A professor in the Radio/TV/Film program at SAC for more than 20 years, Weiss passed away in 2008. Money raised from Fredstock will directly benefit the Music Business Program.

This year, Fredstock features a strong foundation of blues-rock locals. From the Southside proving grounds of Doug Sahm and Augie Meyers, guitarist Jimmy Spacek riffs in a similar South Texas feel. On Let Me In, Ruben V shreds on the 12-bar blues in the style of BB King and Lucille.

Originally from San Antonio, Eddie Polanco and the All Nighters offer an alluring blues-rock revue. From Arkansas, guitarist Granvil Poynter gains a unique flavor from Raul G. Garcia on Cajon, a Peruvian box-shaped percussion instrument. On songs like "Living Inside the Loop" and "South Presa Man," Los #3 Dinners dive into old school barrio blues.

From noon until 6 p.m., SAC's KSYM 90.1 will simulcast the gig.
