Lecture: Communication, Communion, and Confrontation in Puerto Rican Art
Antonio Martorell studied snapshots that migrants mailed back to relatives on the island and drew inspiration from the competing ideas of communicating prosperity, communion with family, and confronting hardships of migration. Martorell discusses his work on view in the exhibition Transnational: Migration, Memory, Home.
