FUNstival requires dancing shoes, eating pants

For 51 years the Greek FUNstival has been celebrating Greek culture in San Antonio. This weekend, the three-day festival at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church (2504 N St. Mary’s) offers food, drinks, dancing, and shopping with a Mediterranean flare. Tickets are $3 at the gate, though you’ll need to buy food and drink tickets inside. This is a great reason to stuff yourself silly on gyros and baklava, something I do every year. The festival is open Friday night, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.

If you haven’t been watching Diners, Drive-ins and Dives lately, you’ve missed seeing some local restaurants getting their 15 minutes of fame. Bun ‘N’ Barrel, Taco Taco Café, and Beto’s Comida Latina have all been featured on recent episodes. The show came to film at a handful of restaurants in the spring. The episode featuring El Bohio debuts on Monday, October 24, so make sure to set your DVR. Maybe order in some ropa vieja to go with it.
