Gary Sweeney’s Manhattan Beach Memoir Book Release and Signing

Gary Sweeney, a San Antonio-established artist known for his humorous text-based work and art installations throughout the U.S., debuts his new book "Manhattan Beach Memoir: Artist Gary Sweeney Says Goodbye to His Childhood Home" based on his most popular art installation, A Manhattan Beach Memoir: 1945-2015. The book documents the installation at 320 35th Street, made as a tribute to his family who owned and occupied it for over 70 years. The site-specific installation pays homage to his upbringing, family, and the Manhattan Beach of the past.

Chicken-on-a-Stick
Fiesta favorite chicken-on-a-stick is basically the supreme food booth snack from all of Fiesta. San Antonians look forward to eating it all year, and usually commemorate their first chicken-on-a-stick of the season with a selfie. It’s inspired chicken-on-a-stick necklaces, earrings, stickers and more from local designers, and has appeared on menus across SA so folks can get their fix. Thank goodness for that.
