Gina Brillon

Called a “relatable performer with universal likability … both comfortable and comforting” by Rolling Stone, and “wonderful … amazing … fantastic” by Gabriel Iglesias, who produced her first special, Pacifically Speaking, stand-up Gina Brillon has the ability to make growing up as a Puerto Rican lady in the Bronx into an almost all-inclusive experience. Describing aggressive catcalling in a way that makes everyone laugh but also makes the perpetrators look ridiculous and desperate, and mapping the mysterious inner-workings of a woman’s mind in a way that makes so much sense but also reveals that it’s not so unlike a man’s, Brillon puts her humanity on full display in such a jovial way you might instantly forget you don’t know her personally. To laugh with her is to laugh at yourself and better understand both. Upcoming projects cosigned by the likes of Horatio Sanz should ensure she’ll be much more famous very soon, and that will be a good thing for everyone.

Chicken-on-a-Stick
Fiesta favorite chicken-on-a-stick is basically the supreme food booth snack from all of Fiesta. San Antonians look forward to eating it all year, and usually commemorate their first chicken-on-a-stick of the season with a selfie. It’s inspired chicken-on-a-stick necklaces, earrings, stickers and more from local designers, and has appeared on menus across SA so folks can get their fix. Thank goodness for that.
