Gov. Perry Shows Up Smug for Mug Shot

Gov. Rick Perry's mugshot, taken in downtown Austin on Tuesday evening.

Behold, everyone, our Texas governor's mug shot.

Yesterday afternoon, at what sounded vaguely like a campaign rally rather than a self-surrender, Gov. Rick Perry turned himself in at the Travis County Justice Complex after being indicted over the weekend on two felony counts of abuse of power and coercion of a public servant.

Perry took the mug shot the Internet had been waiting for. The photo is both Tom Delay-esque, with that smug grin, and so Perry, with that perfectly coiffed mane. Noticeably missing, though, are his infamous hipster glasses that have made headlines across the country.

As you can expect, memes started popping up all over the Internet once the mug shot was released. Shout-out to San Antonio Express-News reporter Kolten Parker for gathering some great ones.

That wasn't the only pic the Guv posed for  yesterday. After spending just a few minutes downtown, Perry and his team made their to a local Austin joint, Sandy's Hamburgers, famous for their ice cream and custard. Perry tweeted this photo:

"@GovernorPerry: And then, ice cream cone at #Sandy's"

Rick Perry tweeted this photo of himself after his booking in downtown Austin.

Who doesn't love a good ice cream cone after a bad day? We just have one question for the governor: What flavor did he order?

The charges against him, and subsequent arraignment, aren't interfering with Perry's busy political schedule. His travel plans remain in tact , as he heads to New Hampshire and Washington D.C. over the next few weeks. Perry's lawyers will appear in court next week on his behalf.

Oh, the life of an indicted governor.
