Great Russian Nutcracker

It’s a Christmas tradition for many to enjoy Tchaikovsky’s traditional tale of the young girl Masha and her fantastical adventure with the Nutcracker Prince. The Great Russian Nutcracker features the world-class dancers of the Moscow Ballet in a lushly staged production that breathes new life into a beloved classic. Notably, unlike traditional performances of The Nutcracker, at the opening of Act II young Masha and the Nutcracker travel not to the “Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” but instead to the “Land of Peace and Harmony,” where they meet the Dove of Peace. Inspired by Bolshoi Ballet Principal danseur Stanislov Vlasov, the Dove of Peace’s dance originated as a solo performance and has since evolved to become a marriage of two dancers into a single, majestic creature with a flowing 20-foot wingspan. The unique reinterpretation of the ballet is accompanied by innovative rolling backdrops and detailed period costumes, and is a must-see for ballet fans of all stripes.
