Houston Astros Accept President Trump's Invitation to the White House

While it's tradition for championship teams from major sports leagues to visit the White House as part of the celebration, some individual players and in some cases entire teams have chose not to do so since President Donald Trump's came into office.

The Houston Astros, winners of the World Series, are reportedly taking Trump up on his invitation.

In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, the Astros' president of business operation Reid Ryan has this to say:
"This is a tradition and an honor. For many people, this might be their only time to ever be invited to the White House. And as the representatives of baseball and the World Series champs, when the White House calls and invites you to come up, it's something that as an organization we felt both a responsibility and an obligation to be part of."

As of yet, there doesn't seem to be any individual players planning not to make the trip to Washington, D.C. To be fair, it's not a big deal if the entire team isn't present for the visit to the White House since scheduling can be a conflict. But in the Trump era, skipping out is more often than not a case of not wanting to associate with the president.

The visit hasn't been scheduled yet, but Ryan said it may be sometime during spring training.
