Icons The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 4

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-09-15

Not the only gay in the village, but definitely one of the more flamboyant ones, local celebrity Jade Esteban Estrada continues his schizophrenic foray into the world of musical comedy with ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 4. The one-man show (which premiered earlier this year at Talahassee’s PrideFest) lands at the Overtime Theater for one night only. Dubbed “America’s Prince of Pride” (by NBC News, according to getjaded.com), the accomplished actor, choreographer, and recording artist has selected an eclectic array of characters to impersonate for the latest chapter of his ongoing saga: Plato, Virginia Woolf, Alan Turing, Dr. Evelyn Hooker, Freddie Mercury, and SA’s own (slightly more famous) Oscar-winning golden child, Dustin Lance Black. $15, 8pm, the Overtime Theater, 1414 S. Alamo, (210) 557-7562, theovertimetheater.net, getjaded.com.
