The Park North, Westlakes and Stone Oak locations of theater/restaurant chain Alamo Drafthouse will screen Purple Rain, the 1984 musical drama starring Prince, in celebration of the purple-loving performer's life. The showings will take place Monday (Park North, Westlakes) and Tuesday (Stone Oak), April 25 and 26.
Prince, a dynamo of pop music, died on Thursday, April 21. The cause of death has not yet been reported, but Prince cancelled a show on April 7, citing the flu. On April 15, on his way back to his Minnesota home, Prince's plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois and the 57-year-old was admitted into a hospital.
Tickets for the event, an excellent opportunity to joyfully mourn the icon, are priced at $5, with all of the proceeds benefitting Jazz Foundation of America.
