WORKSHOPS
All workshops are free at the Juarez Plaza stage. These are our picks, but check the complete schedule at internationalaccordionfestival.com. There isn’t a weak offering on the menu and there’s stuff for all tastes.

1:30pm Sat: Nuevo Barrio Rhythms
New York’s Pistolera and SA’s Los Nahuatlatos will talk about how the accordion is an easy link to all sorts of musical genres.

4:30pm Sat: Dominican Merengue Típico Accordion and Dance Workshop
Radhames Rodríguez is from the Dominican Republic, but his sound is a product of the New York merengue fusion that started taking place in the ’90s. See him up close and prepare to dance to his 8:30 p.m. set at the Maverick stage.

Noon Sun: Open Mic
Come at 11:30, get your name on the list and show what you got for 15 minutes. Then stay for an accordion workshop.
