Though it’s curiously billed as an organ trio, the focus here is on Carter and his powerful, varied approach to the saxophone. He can play traditional jazz, having studied as a young adult under Wynton Marsalis, while also showing appreciation for the more avante-garde elements of the form, such as Sun Ra and Eric Dolphy. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the whole spectrum of jazz makes the show seem unpredictable, which also makes it exciting. Not to be missed. $26, 8pm, Carver Community Cultural Center, 226 N.
