Jay Leno Brings His Shtick to the Majestic

the seasoned stand-up

Jay Leno may have hosted The Tonight Show for 22 years, but that doesn’t mean he left his standup comedy roots behind.

Leno has the track record to prove it. According to Dead Frog, he’s written four comedy books and released four comedy specials to date. While hosting The Tonight Show, he averaged 150 stand up shows a year. Tim O’Shea at The Buffalo News notes that Leno has performed almost every Sunday night at The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California since the late 1980’s.

Clearly, Leno is a seasoned stand-up comedian.

So what can we expect from Leno when he performs at the Majestic Theatre this June?

If his recent Seneca Falls show is any indication, we’ll receive more classic Leno. He’ll stick with his tried and true short form, observational style humor. Jokes will stay firmly in the PG-13 rating, and that means you can probably repeat the jokes back at the office. Plus, the 63-year-old comedian will explore some themes concerning youth-versus-age.

That last bit doesn’t come as a surprise. After all, Leno had to leave the The Tonight Show twice over for younger comedians. But, as a stand-up, he’s not going anywhere.
