Jon Stewart showing off his punk cred
Last night on
The Daily Show, Jon Stewart repurposed the punk-worshipped Black Flag logo to dig at the abundance of Confederate symbols in Charleston, the South Carolina city facing national scrutiny after the Mother Emanuel Church shooting. Citing the gross display of Confederate symbols in the city, Stewart said, "In the context of Charleston's Confederate porn industry, the flag is just the money shot."
Stewart's interns' revision of the punk band's logo is one of the best I've seen in some time.
Dad Flag,
Black Dads,
Cat Flag — the internet has proven its cleverness in riffing on the seminal punk symbol. But Stewart,
seen here in his teens at a Dead Kennedys show, took the game of wits up a notch.
