Latina Zine St. Sucia Submits SXSW Panel Proposal, Needs Your Vote

One of our favorite San Antonio zines, St. Sucia, recently submitted a panel proposal to participate in SXSW 2017. But first, they need your vote.

The Latina print zine was founded in 2014 by Isabel Ann Castro and Natasha I. Hernandez as a way to make sure voices from local Latina artists and writers were heard. Now on their seventh issue, the duo has published works from Latinas across the globe, in all types of media and writing.

In their proposal, the mujeres behind St. Sucia focus on how zines challenge media stereotypes and the ways DIY publications can change the future of representation in the media.

To Castro and Hernandez, "St. Sucia is a megaphone gritando NO ESTAS SOLA!" So, let's make sure they get the chance to represent San Antonio, the local zine community and every artist who has used St. Sucia as a vehicle to share their stories.

Visit and submit your vote by the end of day Sept. 2 for "Brown Girls to the Front! A Zine Claiming Space".
