Celebrate the slow creep toward the week's end with a feast of local music at Ventura, the refurbished rock 'n' roll venue located at 1011 Avenue B. Kick back on the velvet couches in the foyer area as the evening commences with sweet tunes from Tyler Gonzales. The indie rockers of the Onyx Humms take the stage next, turning up the volume with songs inspired by the femme fatales of Portishead and Warpaint. The night takes a darker turn with Zidj, a progressive rock act that incorporates storytelling elements through intricate knots of noise. Last up is curiously named trio, What? The City Bears. Stick around for their unique brand of psychedelic pop. 9pm, $5, Ventura SATX, 1011 Avenue B.
