A man is in custody after San Antonio police say he stole a fire commander's pickup and led officers on a high-speed chase early Thursday morning.
Around 8:30 a.m., a first responder vehicle was left unattended on Houston Street when a man got inside the truck. Authorities said the man then drove the truck through downtown, hitting multiple vehicles and various objects. He eventually sideswiped an 18-wheeler and also hit a charter bus.
In total, police said the chase lasted almost an hour and ended near I-35 and Loop 1604.
