Transit, a brand-new cooperative art space and former mattress factory, provides aspiring contemporary artists with the shot at a fellowship and the resources to complete a month-long project. First up to bat is artist Matthew Van Hellen, who’ll show “non-objective pen drawings” at Transit. While not immediately obvious, a close inspection of Van Hellen’s drawings reveals thousands of calculated marks that create rhythm and movement. Free, public walk-through with the artist: 6pm, opening reception: 7-10pm, Transit, 1907 S St Mary’s, (210) 877-6846, [email protected]. On view by appointment through December 11.
